In what was one of the year’s highlights, Hoyohoyo Chartwell hosted Mzingisi and Mmasechaba’s wedding – and a joyous, memorable occasion it was.

The couple met at the groom’s cousin’s birthday party, where they locked eyes and their love story began. A short time later, Mzingisi successfully pulled off a surprise proposal at the venue where they had first met, much to the delight of the unexpecting Mmasechaba.

The couple celebrated their union at Hoyohoyo Chartwell Lodge on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Looking back on the momentous occasion, Mmasechaba had this to say…

Why did you choose Hoyohoyo to host your wedding?

I’ve always wanted a glass marque for my wedding. After realising how much it would cost to erect one from scratch, I opted for a venue that had one in place – Hoyohoyo was the perfect fit. It was very nicely located for our guests and had great spaces where we could realise our vision. The fact that the whole wedding and reception could happen in the same venue was a big plus for us.

How was your experience working with the coordinators at Hoyohoyo?

Rumbi and her staff were very professional and welcoming. They were also quite accommodating to our requirements in terms of catering as we wanted to have a traditional wedding, the food was just as important. They were up for any challenge we threw at them. There were hurdles here and there like any other big event planning, but they really stepped up to make things run as smoothly as they possibly could, which was really amazing.

Did you get the wedding you imagined and how was it?

It was absolutely everything we could have imagined and more, it really was a dream come true and we wish we could relive it over and over. Having the pictures and video to look over continues to put smiles on our faces.

What would you change if you could?

I would have had it go on for longer – maybe a 2-day wedding next time!
